    Abstract: Marine organisms are susceptible for the exposure to anthropogenic noise. However, our understanding of the responses of the marine organisms from the long term impact of anthropogenic noise are not clearly established. Here, we show that the increasing low frequency (5-500 Hz) anthropogenic noise have impacted in diminishing of the fish chorus and as well as, disturbing their chorusing temporal pattern. We have analyzed passive acoustic monitoring data from 2014-2017 during the Spring, deployed at two distinct locations ChangHua (A1) and Miaoli (N1), off the Eastern Taiwan Strait. The region N1 is exposed to continual shipping noise. Hence the low frequency noise levels are ~10 dB higher than in region A1. This enabled us to clearly quantify the impact on fish chorus activity in the presence and absence of shipping noise. At the region N1, it is observed that there is ~2-3 dB annual increase in the low frequency noise levels, due to shipping noise. This increasing noise levels have resulted in ~2-3 dB annual declining in the fish chorus intensity and also it is observed that the fishes abruptly chorusing beyond the usual chorusing periods and damped chorus activity during the usual chorusing periods. This study demonstrates the impact of long term exposure of shipping noise on fish chorusing temporal patterns in the natural habitat.
