Abstract: This study measures underwater acoustic ambient noise on the sandy coast of Central Taiwan. The tidal range in this sea area is 3 to 5 meters, and the hydrophone is located at a water depth of 5 meters. During the measurement process, when the wave height is higher than 1.5 meters, the sound of the impact and breaking of the waves can be recorded. The prominent spectral characteristics of noise are at 20 Hz to 96k Hz. The frequency of impact noise of wave distributes below 500 Hz, and the ambient noise from 20 Hz to 100 Hz can be instantly increased by 39 dB. When the wave height is less than 1.5 meters, the wave noise cannot be obviously observed.\nIn the results of this underwater noise and wave analysis, whether the turbulent pressure disturbance below 100 Hz or the bubble-breaking sound above 500 Hz was clearly observed. The frequency of the bubble-breaking sound is even as high as 96k Hz. However, in this measurement, the collected marine biological noise is limited under the influence of strong noise of waves at all frequencies. The sounds of marine biology can only be recognized before and after the wave breaks, but it is difficult during the wave-breaking period.
